HOUSTON, TX – Police are investigating after a pedestrian was fatally struck in a hit-and-run on North I-45 Sunday morning, according to the Houston Police Department.
Sergeant D. Rodriguez and Officer J. Tran responded to reports of a deceased person found between the southbound lanes of the freeway and the service road at the Sam Houston Tollway. The victim was found unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene by authorities.
A preliminary investigation concluded that the victim had been hit by a southbound driver who failed to keep their vehicle in a single lane. The unknown driver then crossed the grassy median from the southbound lanes onto the service road and fled the scene.
The driver is wanted for a felony charge of failure to stop and render aid at the scene of a crime. Authorities are asking for anyone with any further information to contact them.
