FORT BEND COUNTY, TX — Two teenage girls sustained minor injuries Monday when a tree fell over their car near a residential driveway in Sugar Land, according to Click2Houston.
The teen driver said she had just picked up her female friend and were driving away when the large tree fell on her Mercedes Benz, completely destroying the vehicle and trapping the occupants for nearly half an hour before emergency crews could arrive.
Fire and EMS personnel responded to the scene and helping the teens exit through the back of the wreckage.
The tree is believed to have fallen due to being rotten and infested with termites. It is unclear whether or not any charges will be filed.
