HOUSTON, TX — A woman died early Monday after being struck by two vehicles while running across the Southwest Freeway near Houston’s Westwood area, reports Houston Chronicle.
The crash happened on the main lanes of the freeway just north of Beltway 8 at around 12:30 a.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates the woman was running across the lanes when she was hit by a silver BMW. She was then struck by another vehicle.
The driver of the BMW remained at the scene. Authorities are actively searching for the other unknown vehicle, whose driver fled after the crash.
All inbound lanes of the freeway were shut down for two hours as an investigation was conducted. At this time, police said the drivers are not considered at fault for the pedestrian accident.
