HARRIS COUNTY, TX — A woman died late Saturday after being ejected in a crash and hit by another car on Beltway 8 near Humble, according to KHOU11.
According to authorities, the fatal collision occurred on the eastbound lanes of the freeway near Mesa Road shortly before midnight.
An investigation shows the victim was traveling in a silver Lincoln MKX with a male occupant after both had been drinking at a Midtown bar. At one point, the vehicle veered out from its lane and collided with a roadway barrier, causing it to flip several times.
Police said neither occupant was wearing a seat belt at the time, and the woman was ejected out of the Lincoln before being struck by a Toyota Avalon.
The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Authorities said the male occupant survived the accident, but did not say whether or not he sustained any significant injuries.
The driver of the Avalon remained after the accident and was not suspected of impairment.
An investigation was underway to determine who was driving at the time of the crash, and whether the bar that served the occupants violated any TABC laws.
As of this writing, no charges have been filed.
